Highlights of Online Store and Ecommerce functionality
Through the administrative section the software allows you to command many attributes. The following highlights some of the most interest.
Manage Product Categories and Subcategories. You can use either graphics or text for categories and
subcategories and you can create as many levels of category hierarchies as you like.
Manage Products. You can upload images and text for your products, define which categories a product may go
under (multiple catehories for each product are allowed), pricing, also pricing for multiple units, you can allow options/selections for products (color, size, etc) and can define price incerements/decrements for various
options. You may also indicate the weight of the product so that the shipping costs are calculated automatically as the customer shops. You may also flag a product not to be taxed or to be shipped for free.
We also offer a bilingual version of the software that allows you to upload bilingual descriptions for products.
Manage Tax Rates. You can define tax rates for various states or zip codes. You may also flag certain products as tax free.
Manage Shipping Rates. You can define shipping rates for orders in a variety of ways. The software can compute
shipping rates based on weight, or on the total price, or as a fixed amount. You may also flag certain products as shipped for free. You can choose to have free shipping for orders over a certain amount. And you can choose to
impose a special handling fee also in a variety of ways.
The shopping software can be set in either of two modes: simple and deluxe. The simple mode allows quicker navigation to products, while the deluxe mode allows the use of thumbnail images and short descriptions, leading to larger images
and longer descriptions.
The shopping software can be set to accept orders online or to allow viewing of products only. In this way you can operate your store as an online catalogue browser or as a fully functional e-commerce clerk.
You may switch between the two modes at a click of a button.
You may choose the method orders are relayed to you the store administrator. You may choose to get
order notifications through email or have them writen to a file. Credit card numbers are suppressed and/or encoded.
You may choose to offer gift wrapping. This setting allows you to specify if you want to offer gift
wrapping of the various products or not. It also allows you to specify the cost for giftwrap as well as the various giftwrap options.
You may choose to offer gift certificates and to specify the minimum amount and maximum valid duration of certificates.
Similarly, you may choose to offer coupons and to specify the valid period and rules for applicability for each coupon.
The software is capable of keeping inventory control. Per your settings, it will notify you via
email when stock quantities are low, and it will advise customers. If you run out of a product the software will not present it to customers (if you choose so), and it may or may not accept or charge for backorders as per your
settings.
The software allows you to easily manage your orders. Upon processing an order, it will
automatically notify the customer that the order has been processed. It also allows you to print a mailing label and customer receipt at the click of a button. This allows nice streamlining of order processing and greatly reduces your response time.
Upon order processing, orders are archived in monthly files so as to keep you organized. Archives of processed orders can be searched to bring up past records. You may choose to search old orders by either of the following:
- Order Number
- Customer Last Name
- Customer Phone Number
- Customer email address
The software allows you to easily manage customer records. You may view registered customer records, update them, and even email to a single customer or a group of customers, or to create email lists and eflyers.
The software allows you to easily maintain certain pages for news or quick infopages.
It also allows you to maintain a set of cross-advertisement Banners, define the frequency by which each is
presented, and track statistics on them.
The software allows you to easily back up files on the server as well as to recover files from backups.
A special section allows you to define certain parameters controlling appearance, such as the dispersion of images, appearance of headers and footers, whether navigation bars will be used or not
etc. It also allows you to change the templates used for email notifications, or even the templates of presentation of certain categories.
As you go through the testdrive you will see that there are a lot of functions, almost certain to cover your needs. We are also constantly working on creating new functions and evolving the
software. However, the most important issues we would like to emphasize are:
- The software creates its own files that support its functionality.
Therefore it is self contained and does not depend on other database servers. This allows it to be independent and portable. Most important however, it can run much cheaper than other systems requiring database servers. Such systems usually have higher maintainance costs and they usually require monthly fees. If you run this software at an ISP server your monthly fee can be as low as $30 per month (as of the time this is written) or even cheaper, while a system that can support database servers is way much higher.
- This software was designed to be self explanatory and friendly even for novice users. You can learn to run and manage this without much technical expertise.
So if you are running a small business that cannot afford technical support staff, this software should be ideal for you.
- This software puts you in charge of your store. You decide how you want the store to appear and to behave, you manage your products, you manage your orders. In other words, you define the
personality of your store and give more personal attention to your users.
- Most important in our opinion: you decide what to do with your traffic. You decide whether or not to send promotions to your customers and you are the keeper of your customer information, statistics, demographics etc.
